Location: The "Lost valley Observatory", located
at "Sierra Remote Observatories" in
the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California
Camera: SBIG STL-6303
Guiding: SBIG Adaptive Optics, Astrodon MOAG AOG
Filters: Astrodon L, R, G, B, Ha, SII, OIII
Mount: Software Bisque Paramount ME
Acquisition Programs: The Sky,CCDAutopliot III, CCD Soft.
Processing Programs: CCDStack, Maxim DL, Photoshop
Date:July 7-August 11, 2007
Time:
1) LRGB (Ha/Red Combined)::18 x 20 minutes x 5 (30 hours)
2) Plus SII/Ha/OIII : 18 x 20 minutes x 3 (18 hours).
3) Total imaging time: 42 hours.
(Ha used for both LR'GB and NB images).
Processing: CCD Stack and PhotoShop CS/2
Image Information: The Pelican Nebula (IC 5070) is part of a large star forming region with large dust clouds obscuring portions of bright ionized gas. The entire nebula is over 30 light years in size and about 2,000 light years away
Processing Comments: This image was created by blending (Luminosity Mode in Photoshop CS/2) both the LRGB image (Red channel was a blend of red and H-alpha) with the Narrow Band image (SII, Ha, OIII using Hubble Palette). Additional processing with curves, High Pass Filter and Kodac Gem.
